GoTranscript is a writing company founded in 2005 and led by CEO Peter Trebek. They are currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.

GoTranscript Audio Test Answer:

[00:00:01] Speaker 1: This audio is used for the transcriber test at GoTranscript. Whether you like it or not, is another matter.

[00:00:09] Speaker 2: Hi everyone, sorry about all that noise in the background. There's a bunch of construction going on at our neighbour's house, or I guess I should say, our ex-neighbour, or maybe our future neighbour. See what happened is our former neighbours, a sweet elderly couple in their 80s moved to Del Boca Vista, hard to believe but their tiny little house, which they originally paid about $5000 for, sold for nearly 1.5 million dollars.

Apparently, though, the foundation slab was cracked sometime back in the 90s, so they have to basically do a tear-down build-up. It's annoying, but you know, I can take it if you can. Anyway, I thought that would be a good topic for our new test 'Home construction'. There's some stuff in the guidelines, which you're definitely supposed to be referring to, by the way, about measurements and how they're supposed to be formatted.

So I'm going to drop some numbers into this test, which you're supposed to format correctly. Guess what? If you don't, then it doesn't matter. Even if you get all the words right, you'll still fail. That's right, even if you correctly spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, which believe it or not, is included in just about every online dictionary now, so there's no excuse for misspelling it. Anyway, even if you misspell it by one little fraction, say 1 letter out of 34 You'll fail. Also, even if you spell it right, but don't get that number combination right, you'll fail.

We know it's hard but come on, it's not that hard to look at the GoTranscript guidelines, is it? Anyway, the construction guys just drove a big truck into our driveway, which technically they're not supposed to do. But I'm home all day. So I'll give them a pass. And the truck looks like it's filled with lumber of all sizes, 2/4, 4/6 and 1/12, looks like to me. Of course, I'm not really that great at eyeballing measurements off the cuff like that. I couldn't be wrong. It's been known to happen.

Also, did you know that according to a lot of online sources, I just now looked up. Not all two-by-fours are actually two inches by four inches. It's true. Apparently, there's this thing called the nominal size versus the actual size. The nominal size might be two by four. But then they slather some paint or something over it and the actual measurements are a little different. That's why it's always a good idea to measure twice and cut once as the old saying goes.

Another number you'll definitely want to look up online is how much moolah this construction job is going to cost you? What percentage of your hard-earned simoleons are you willing to part with to make this cracked house into a home? By the way that's a cracked house with an  E-D at the end? Without that E-D, It's a totally different type of house and we don't need that in our neighbourhood. Thank you.

Anyway, I personally wouldn't want to spend more than 35% of my cash on construction, but it's really a personal decision. Your mileage may vary sort of like the mileage on my 2005 Toyota Corolla after I spent 597 on unleaded gas before I hop onto the 405.

[00:03:55] Speaker 2: This audio is used for the transcriber test at GoTranscript. So there you go.
